Root canal treatment is carried out in case of irreversible damage to the tooth nerve. Treatment can save a tooth that otherwise would have to be removed. Complications within the pulp occurs most often as a result of a damage or breakage of the tooth, and also as a result of advanced caries. During treatment, the doctor removes nerve residues and bacteria from a root canal.
Cleaning is carried out by two methods: mechanical and chemical. The exact disinfection of the root canal system is the basis for achieving good results of a treatment. Properly executed endodontic treatment preserves the tooth for many years. The canal treatment is a cheaper and less invasive alternative than tooth extraction and implanting in its place an implant or mounting of a prosthetic bridge.
Thanks to the unique methods of endodontics, it is possible to preserve teeth that would otherwise have to be removed. Currently, we use the specialized equipment that allows, among others, to precisely measure the length of the channels (electronic apex locator), thoroughly clean them by using a SAF system (a special drill for a three-dimensional cleaning and disinfection), and to perform high-quality X-ray images.
Endodontic treatment is carried out at a magnification under the microscope, so it is possible to accurately clean the root canal of the bacteria and tissue debris. Cleaning of channels over their entire length is crucial for a successful treatment.
